The Cobblestone Field pattern is approximately 2" x 15' 11''.
Impression Patterns offer a unique process of imprinting any design into fresh concrete. The durable, long-lasting polyurethane Impressions cost less than traditional stamps and the installation process is much more forgiving. Stock patterns are available, including ashlar, cobblestone, random stone, and brick. Plus, you can customize your Impression Pattern in ANY design you want! So forget about those one-time use stencils or frustrating stamps. Save time and money on your project with Impression Patterns!
Installing an Impression Patterns is easier than it you might think. Of course, there are a few key principles to remember. First, Impression Patterns are not concrete stamps and they are not concrete stencils. So don't try to use them exactly as such. Second, the initial placement of an Impression Pattern does not have to be perfect; while it sits on the surface of wet concrete or overlay, you can adjust it, manipulate it, move it, drag it, and wiggle it before settling on its final position. Any marks or lines left from previous placements will disappear once you trowel over the Impression Pattern. This makes the placement process very forgiving.
• Impression Pattern
• Release Agent
• Texture Rollers (optional)
After the concrete is poured or the overlay is applied, trowel it to a smooth finish. Do not allow the material to fully dry before installing the Impression Pattern. The concrete or overlay must be wet enough to trowel once the Impression Pattern is set into the surface.
Spray the concrete or overlay surface and both sides of the Impression Pattern with a liberal amount of liquid release. This helps prevent the Impression Pattern from sticking to the surface. Lay the Impression Pattern (flat side up) onto the surface in the general location where you intend to place it. Adjust its position freely. Do not worry about any left-over marks or lines left from previous positions of the Impression Pattern. These will eventually be troweled out.
Once you have settled upon its final position, begin to tap the Impression Pattern into the surface using your trowel. Tap gently on all areas of the Impression Pattern to imprint it into the surface uniformly and consistently.
When the top of the Impression Pattern is flush with the concrete or overlay surface begin troweling over the entire area, even the Impression Pattern. Trowel in a manner consistent with how you would finish any concrete or overlay surface.
(Optional) Roll a textured roller over the Impression Pattern in areas where additional texture is desired. Consider using liquid or powder release to prevent puckering.
(Optional) Some customers prefer a wash or exposed aggregate finish in or around an Impression Pattern design. Treat the applicable surface areas with a retardant (e.g. brown sugar and water mixed at a ratio of 1:2) to slow the concrete curing process. Spray the treated surface with a pressure sprayer once the untreated surface is set and dry. This will allow you to isolate the wash finish where the surface was treated and not expose the aggregate in untreated surface areas.
When the concrete or overlay is dry, remove the Impression Pattern by lifting up from one end.
Add Color to Your Impression Pattern
Now that your concrete has been imprinted with an Impression Pattern, use NewLook's concrete stains to add color and beauty.
Make sure the concrete is clean and porous before installing NewLook concrete stains. Exfoliate and clean the surface with NewLook EcoAcid. Then power wash thoroughly to rinse all residue. Follow instructions found in each products' Technical Data Sheet.
For stamped texture areas (from a texture roller), use NewLook's TiqueWash antiquing colorant. The water-based stain runs of high spots and settles in low areas of relief to create a two-toned, antiqued finish. Seal with NewLook SmartSeal or other NewLook-approved sealers.
Want a mottled, variegated finish of an acid stain without the mess and fumes of an acid stain? You're not alone. That's why so many professional installers use NewLook's SmartColor, which is the safe, reliable and user-friendly alternative to acid stain.
Use NewLook's ORIGINAL Solid Color Stain to achieve a solid, uniform and natural-looking finish on any clean and porous concrete or overlay.
